Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage 101: how it works, how it feels, and who it helps

If you have swelling, puffiness, or that heavy, tight feeling after surgery or long days, your lymph system may need some gentle encouragement. Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage, often called MLD, is a calm, hands on technique that helps your body move fluid where it needs to go. The touch is very light because most lymph vessels live close to the surface of your skin. We invite them to open and flow, then your body takes it from there.

What happens in a session

Your first visit is simple. We say hello, choose one clear goal to start with, and get you comfortable on a warm table. I use slow, rhythmic movements with light pressure along specific pathways on your neck, trunk, and limbs. This helps redirect fluid toward healthy drainage areas. You stay covered and cozy the whole time. Communication is easy and relaxed. If anything feels tender, I adjust right away. Most people notice they feel calmer and lighter by the end of the session.

Who benefits

• People recovering from cosmetic or general surgery who want help with swelling and tenderness while following their surgeon’s plan.
• People managing lymphedema as part of a larger care plan that may include compression, movement, and skin care.
• Folks with facial puffiness, sinus pressure, or jaw tension who want relief without deep pressure.
• Travelers who feel heavy after long flights or drives and want a gentle reset.

How we keep it safe

Your safety comes first. I always work within your medical team’s guidance. If you have an active infection, a new blood clot, uncontrolled heart concerns, or any new symptoms like heat, redness, or sharp pain, you must check with your provider before booking. During your session I keep touch light, positions supported, and pacing slow so your nervous system can relax.

Simple aftercare

You leave with one or two easy tips you can actually do. Short, gentle walks. Normal hydration. Comfortable clothing and, if your surgeon recommends it, the way to pair your session with compression. I keep instructions short and clear so you feel confident at home.
