Manual Lymph Drainage for a Body Stuck in High Alert. Fight-or-flight is supposed to switch off.

Fight-or-flight is useful in an emergency. Your body gets ready to act, then it is supposed to settle again. For many people, that settling never fully happens. The jaw stays tight, the shoulders stay lifted, sleep is light, and the body keeps acting as though something is about to happen.

Why this is the foundation

Your body needs time out of survival mode.

When your body believes it is in danger, it puts immediate survival first. Digestion, deep rest, and recovery get less attention. If that high-alert state continues, you may stop remembering what truly settled feels like.

Your parasympathetic system supports rest, digestion, and recovery. It is meant to come back online after stress passes. Many people have spent so long braced that calm feels unfamiliar when it finally returns to their body.

MLD uses very light pressure and a slow, repeating rhythm. That kind of touch often helps the body feel safe enough to settle. Many people fall asleep, and that is not a waste of the appointment. It is a sign that the body has stopped guarding for a while.

When you realise this is supposed to be our natural state, something changes.

What this is for

This is gentle lymphatic work, not a deep massage.

This is for a body that keeps bracing when nothing is asking it to.

Chronic stress

This is not only about one difficult week. It is for the kind of stress that has become your normal setting.

Sleep that does not restore

You may sleep for hours and still wake tired because your body never fully settled.

Bracing

Tight shoulders, a clenched jaw, shallow breathing, or muscles that stay ready for trouble constantly.

After trauma or surgery

Trauma and surgery can leave the nervous system on high alert, even when the surgery was planned and wanted.

Alongside chronic illness

Chronic illness is harder to manage when your body is also carrying a constant load of stress and poor sleep.

Before something hard

Before surgery, treatment, or a hard event, it may help to feel less braced.

What the session is like

Quiet, on purpose.

I talk less during this service. We may speak at the beginning, but once the work starts I do not keep you in conversation. I want your system to have room to settle.

The work is very light and slow. I may work on your face, neck, and body, and there are times when I simply stay with one area and let your body stop defending itself.

Many people say the settled feeling stays with them after they leave.

Worth saying plainly

What this is not.

It is not therapy

I am not a therapist, and this does not replace therapy. Some things need to be spoken about with a qualified mental health professional.

It is not treatment for a mental health condition

It may be useful as one part of a larger care plan. It is not treatment for a mental health condition.

It is not a spa relaxation massage

This is lymphatic work aimed at helping your body settle. It may feel relaxing, but it is not spa massage.

One session is a reminder, not a cure

One appointment cannot undo years of stress. It can give your body a clear experience of what settling feels like.

Before you call

Questions people ask me.

What actually happens in a Nervous System Reset?

You receive 90 minutes of very light, slow lymphatic work in a quiet room. The aim is to help your body come down from high alert and spend time in a settled state. Many people fall asleep.

How is this different from a relaxing massage?

A typical massage works more directly on muscle. This uses much lighter pressure and a slow rhythm to work with lymph flow and the nervous system. It feels very different from deep tissue work.

Will I fall asleep?

You may, and that is completely fine. Falling asleep often means your body finally feels safe enough to stop watching everything for a while.

How long does the effect last?

It varies. Some people notice the change for the rest of the day, and others feel it longer. We pay attention to your response instead of promising a set result.

Is this suitable if I have a trauma history?

It may be appropriate, but I need to know what helps you feel safe and what does not. Tell me about touch, positioning, or anything else I should avoid. This is not therapy, and I am not a therapist.

Can I have this alongside other treatment?

Yes. It can sit alongside medical care, therapy, chronic illness support, or surgery. Tell me what else is happening.

The next step
